Green Schools

Green Schools
Help us achieve our 2nd Green Flag for Energy!

What you can do at home

Energy
  • Talk to your child about what he is learning in school about the Green schools (Energy).
  • Turn off your electronics switches at night e.g. your TV, computer and X-box. (they still use 10% of the energy when they're plugged in)
  • Turn off lights and close internal doors when going out to keep the heat in
  • Turn off lights when you leave a room
  • Have an screen-free night at home - play a board game, read a book, bake together
  • Check which appliances in your home are using lots of energy and costing you money

Litter and Waste:

  • Talk to your child about what he is learning in school about the Green schools (recycling).
  • Turn off your electronics at night e.g. your TV, computer and X-box.
  • Reduce the amount of plastic and paper you use at home. Supermarkets like Aldi and Lidl will keep the plastic and cardboard packaging before you leave.
  • Reuse containers, shopping bags etc.
  • Recycle where you can, e.g. recycle your milk cartons, cardboard boxes etc. You can bring old phones and batteries into us in school.
  • Turn off the lights when you leave the room.
  • Clean up after your dog when you are out and about.
  • Encourage your children to use litter bins to keep the area tidy.
  • Leave the car at home and walk or cycle when you can!

Animals get hurt and stuck in the rubbish we throw away. They eat plastic and glass and get sick or even die. Help teach your children where to put their rubbish so that animals can enjoy the local area too.
